LG G5 & Friends Launched in India: What makes it a must buy?

LG India today, at an event held in New Delhi, announced its next flagship smartphone – with which it announces its entry into the modular smartphone business – LG G5. The phone is based on a really interesting concept, if you’re not already aware about how the modular phones are supposed to work. Modular phones allow you to change some aspects of the device, allowing you to customize it according to your requirements and it is as easy as swapping in and out a SIM card. So the new LG G5 is based on the same model and has been equipped with several hardware components (have to be purchased separately), which include a LG CAM Plus, LG Hi-Fi Plus and much more will be there in the months to come.

The LG G5 comes with a 5.3-inch display, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, which roughly translates into 554ppi pixel density. It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC,  4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (expandable upto 2TB, theoretically). The dual rear camera setup performs exceptionally well, with the 16MP and 8MP wide-angle lens really proves to be a boon for the photographers who need to capture more in a picture. The front 8MP camera too is good for the job it is meant for. In addition to the technical front, the LG G5 comes with a USB Type – C connector, Fingerprint sensor and a 2800mAh user removable battery supporting QuickCharge 3.0.

What more? Life’s Good since LG has more in store for their users and they announced some new gadgets, which will definitely be useful to you, at some point or another.

1. LG 360 CAM: Remember the portable image capturing device from HTC, called the HTC RE? Yes, this one is a much more improved version of that device and it enables you to record 360 degree videos without a hitch. There’s a memory card slot and the dual 13MP camera combination does a superb job!

2. LG 360 VR: Well, LG has finally revealed the Virtual Reality set they’ve been working on since quite long. The VR kit doesn’t need your phone to be attached to it, but instead it connected through a cable, which again has to be swapped into the device.

3. LG CAM Plus: This one has a special spot in my heart for the sweet controls it offers, but the only worry is the extra cost attached to it. LG CAM Plus is an extension which shall enable users to take professional photographers on the go! Offering dedicated buttons for launching the camera, recording a video, capturing an image and zooming in & out really eases out the process and makes the task more interesting. Who doesn’t want to be a photographer now?

4. Charging Cradle: Customised for charging your LG G5’s battery is this device, which can also turn into a power back to power up other devices you’re carrying. It’s claimed to be really quick in charging the battery of the G5, but you really should put this on hold until there’s a review around it.

The LG G5 was announced at a price tag of Rs. 52,990 and will be available both in online (Flipkart being their exclusive online partners), as well as the offline stores. However, there’s no official pricing of the devices which are supposed to come along with the phone.
