Google unveils the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, India Pricing revealed

Google launched two new devices in the Nexus lineup in an event at San Francisco yesterday. The devices hardly come as a surprise after a series of leaks revealed a lot about the phones before launch. The names of the phones were confirmed when the packaging for the two devices leaked a few days back. So what are the new Nexus devices all about? Lets find out.

First up lets have a look at the Nexus 5X, the device is said to be the successor to the Nexus 5 and is made by the same manufacturer, LG. The 5X is slightly bigger than its successor and has a 5.2 inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The internals have got a major bump as well, it has a Snapdragon 808 Hexa Core processor, an Adreno 418 GPU, has 2GB of RAM and comes with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. The camera is a 12.3 megapixel sensor which has bigger 1.4μm pixels. This helps the device click good pictures even in low lighting conditions. It also gets Laser Autofocus for faster focusing and Dual Tone LED flash to ensure proper color reproduction for clicked images. The phone is capable of recording 4K video and Slo Mo video at 120 FPS. At the front the phone has a 5 megapixel camera which is on par with the other flagships in the market. The device sports a USB Type C that supports fast charging and the device comes with a 15W charger in the box. It also gets a fingerprint scanner that Google calls as Nexus Imprint and is located just below the camera. While the leaks pointed to a stereo setup, the Google Nexus 5X only has a single front firing speaker.

The Nexus 6P is the bigger device among the two phones and is made by Huawei. It is the first time that the manufacturer has tied up with Google to make a smartphone. The 6P has a big 5.7 inch AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution. The processing duties are carried out by the Snapdragon 810 chipset along with Adreno 430 GPU. The phone has 3GB of RAM and comes in three storage options i.e. 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. The camera on the 6P has Laser autofocus and is identical to the 5X but the 6P can do 240FPS slo mo video capture. The front facing camera however is different, an 8 megapixel sensor instead of the 5 megapixel unit on the Nexus 5X. What stands out for this device is the unibody aluminium construction and front facing stereo speakers. The Nexus 6P is bigger and as a result houses a bigger 3450mAh battery. The phone also has a USB Type C port and at the back has a Fingerprint scanner. Both the devices run Android’s latest Operating System Marshmallow and feature a Sensor hub that processes all the data collected from the various sensors on the devices.

While there has been no official communication of the price of these phones in India but the Google Play Store site displayed it in a few places. The Nexus 5X 16GB will start from Rs. 31,999 while the Nexus 6P will start from Rs. 39,999. The prices of the other variant aren’t revealed yet.
