The Weekly Tech Wrap-up (19 September 2015)

In the ever-changing world of technology, we bring you the most shocking, exciting, humorous and ground breaking news from the last week, here at Virtuaniz Tech Wrap-up.

1.Microsoft to host an event on October 6

Finally, after months of rumors and speculations, Microsoft has given an official go to the Windows 10 mobile devices. Recently, Microsoft started sending initiations for a launch event that will be held on Oct. 6 in New York City. The invitation does not mention the products that will be unveiled during the event. However, the source code of the live streaming page for the upcoming event reveals that a Surface product will be announced on that day. Other sources suggest some Windows 1o device to be announced as well.

2. Sharp to Put 8K TVs on Sale this October

For the most unusual news this week, Sharp has announced plans to sell an 8K television screen from October. 8K is a bit unusual, at least for 2015. To use 8K capability, users will have to feed video in from at least 4 HDMI cables, to successfully transfer the high amounts of data involved. I know that 8K isn’t that new and we have seeing 8K TVs since two years, but those were at CES, Sharp is claiming sales to begin in October.

3. Sony Z5 Premium Won’t Perform Regular Tasks in 4k

Sony has released a statement to PhoneArena, ‘_Xperia Z5 Premium features a 4K display with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels based on SID Standard and enables all video and image content to be enjoyed in 4K resolution. All other content is displayed at 1080p or lower resolution in order to optimise the performance and battery stamina for this device, ensuring you can enjoy the 4K resolution when you need it most’. _This was in order to stand by their claim of 2-day battery. This is sad as I didn’t expect that after paying the premium price, I will still be using a 1080p device after all. If nothing else, we should at least get an option in settings to use 4K for general work as well.

4. Blackberry Venice Android Phone Spotted on Video

Android Authority has posted a video on their YouTube channel, with an hands-on experience with the teased Blackberry Venice with the actual device. They claimed to have received the device from ‘Baka Mobile’ and the four-minute video gives us a clear look at the device. The recent rumoured pictures of the device have proved to be true and the device lives up to the Blackberry standards. As I suspected, the device is lot like a Blackberry Torch running Android. Check out this video from Android Authority:

5. Flipkart Starts Moto X Play Sales

The Indian e-commerce website, Flipkart has started it sales of the Moto X Play starting at Rs. 18,499 for 16GB variant and Rs. 19,999 for 32GB variant, both in Black and White colors. You can find them at Flipkart. Announced last month, the device was pretty appealing for what it offered at such a low price point.

6. Google Announces a September 29 Event

For the very recent news, earlier today the search giant sent out official invites for an event to be held on September 29th from 9AM in San Francisco. Given the aforementioned leaks, we expect the conference will include the official announcement of not only the LG-made Nexus 5X/Nexus 5 (2015) but presumably the larger and more premium Huawei Nexus. Also, yesterday, a word broke that a new Chromecast refresh will also be introduced. We can just speculate and wait for ‘Tasty New Treats.’
