Moto X Play with Snapdragon 615 and 2GB RAM Announced

The second device announced in today’s long rumored and speculated Motorola event was the Moto X Play. With this device’s announcement, the “XGX” on the invitation finally made some sense. The 2 ‘X’ on the invitation represent the Moto X Play and Moto X Style with the ‘G’ representing the Moto G. We wondered if we’d be seeing the launch of two new Moto X phones in addition to the new Moto G, and Motorola’s already made it clear that it’s doing things a little differently this year, announcing the 5.7-inch Moto X Style -but- this year Motorola has two new Moto X models for us, and in addition to the Moto X Style, it’s introducing the Moto X Play.

Living on to the speculations of a Moto X with huge battery life, the Moto X Play packs a gigantic 3630 mAh battery. The 3630mAh Battery on Moto X Play is said to bring quick charging and capability to go 2 days straight without a need of recharging, under normal use. The display on this phone, to increase the battery life, isn’t quad HD like the Moto X style, instead, Moto X Play flaunts a slightly more conservative 5.5-inch 1080p panel. The phone will be available in either 16GB or 32GB storage configurations, each with microSD expansion available. The handset gets 2GB of RAM used by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.

The like other two phones announced at the event today, the Moto X Play also 10 on 10 when it comes to design. The phone isn’t as bulky, as expected, considering that it packs a gigantic battery. And, just like the other phones, Moto X Play will also be customizable through Moto Maker. Sales of the Moto X Play are set to get started in Europe, Latin America, and Canada during August. While the Moto X Style is already positioned to be an affordable smartphone, the Moto X Play should be even more so, priced about $100 less than its sibling.
