Samsung enters the selfie game with Galaxy J5 and J7

It’s time for you to grab your selfie sticks, as Samsung has announced two new smartphones, namely Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7, focused on the selfie craze. Though these devices have the same Samsung design style, both new smartphones offer front facing LED Flash along with 5MP cameras. With this new trick up their sleeves, this feature will likely bring a lot of young users on board. These smartphones were quietly released in China and are available on Samsung’s website. The J7 is now available in China for 1,798 CNY (Rs. 18,300) and the J5 costs 1,398 CNY (Rs. 14,300). We’re not sure if either phone will be available in markets outside of China.

The cheaper J5 comes with a 5.0 inch 720p HD display powered by a 1.2Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor and 2600 mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy J7 is a tad more powerful than J5, offering an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, and a bigger 5.5 inch 720p HD display depending upon the massive 3000mAh battery. Both devices are backed by 1.5GB of RAM and feature 16GB on board storage, a MicroSD card slot, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, LTE and dual SIM capabilities. Both also run Android 5.1 Lollipop and are available in Black, White and Gold color options.


Apart from the 5MP front camera with flash,  both devices feature a 13MP rear camera of f/1.9 aperture lens. At Computex, Asus released the ZenFone Selfie smartphone, which features a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with a flash.Samsung has promised some beautification features that will allow users to edit their photos before adding tons of hashtags to them on Instagram.
