Gionee Elife E8 with 24MP Camera and 3GB of RAM Launched

Gionee has taken the wraps off two new handsets, each with very different agendas. Where the Marathon M5 is focused on battery life, the flagship Elife E8 is all about the bells and whistles, and if you’re looking for a beastly new smartphone, the E8 has a good crack for your first choice. The Elife E8 will sell for the about $645 (~Rs. 39,000) when it arrives on July 15 in Asia. There’s no word on whether the phone will make its way outside of Asia or not.

Gionee packed the Elife E8 with all the high-end specs to match other flagships. The phablet sports a 6-inch, Quad HD AMOLED screen, with a 490-ppi pixel density. A quad-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor clocked at 2 Ghz keeps things moving along with the help of 3GB of RAM. The Elife E8 comes with 64GB of storage built in, which is expandable via a MicroSD.

For the shutterbug in you, the Gionee Elife E8 comes with its stunning 23.7-megapixel camera, which offers several special features. The camera launches in a mere 0.8 seconds, so you never miss a photo opportunity. Like any other flagship, it has a lightning fast phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, and the ability to record 4K video. The six-element lens is covered with sapphire glass for added protection and offers lossless zoom. Next to the camera sits a True Tone LED flash. Thanks to special software, the Elife E8 can take pictures at up to 120-megapixel resolutions. It uses technology similar to Nokia’s Pureview, where incredibly high-resolution images can be achieved using a smartphone.

As we learned a short while back, Gionee Elife E8 will retail as the Allview X2 Xtreme in some regions. The phone is certainly a bit cheaper than other flagships, but, offers some of the best specifications out there.
