Track Your Lost Android Smartphone with Google's Android Device Manager

Losing phones have always added to the long list of problems you have. And tracking them is another headache that we face, thanks to the Indian Police who is way too lazy to note down the IMEI number and put it on tracking. But as usual, Google has found a solution to this issue of ours with a simple Google Search “find my phone” which is a part of their Android Device Manager.

To enable the tracking on your phone, you must ensure the following settings:

Once you have made a note of the prerequisite mentioned above, you are all set to track your Android smartphone.

  1. Sign in to your Google Account from a PC to start tracking your Android smartphone.
  2. Go to and type “find my phone” in the search box.
  3. Once the page opens, select the phone you wish to track from the drop down menu.
  4. After that you can select to ‘Ring’ your phone or ‘Lock’ your phone or even ‘Erase’ your phone.

Ring: If you select to ring, your device will ring at its maximum volume for 5 minutes until the power button is pressed.

Lock: With this option, you can lock your smartphone and you can reset the device password so that the person cannot access your phone.

Erase: Choosing this option will erase all your data from the smartphone, including accounts and personal files. This can turn out to be a handy option when it comes to confidential documents.

Hope that you were able to get your phone’s location with this simple method. In case you find any difficulty in the method mentioned, feel free to leave a comment below and we would be happy to help.
