How to install OxygenOS on your OnePlus One?

As teased earlier, OnePlus has released its custom ROM, dubbed the OxygenOS. The Chinese flagship killer, OnePlus, has released OxygenOS as a 705MB flashable ROM and commits to release a safer and easier way to install soon. OxygenOS is based on the Android 5.0.2, which to our disappointment, is not the latest version of Android.

This is a step-by-step guide on how to flash the OxygenOS on a OnePlus One device.

Please proceed only if you are confident in your abilities to flash a custom ROM. This guide exists to help you flash OxygenOS, but things can still go wrong if not followed correctly. While rooting and flashing will not void your OnePlus warranty, any damage caused by improper flashing is not covered under warranty. Please make sure all your data and files are backed up before commencing. Flashing OxygenOS onto CM does require a system wipe, so you will lose all of your data.

The following instructions assume you have Fastboot and ADB installed. You will need the OxygenOS ROM fole for installation. Download OxygenOS here.

Step 1: To get started, you need to flash a recovery on your device. We recommend using TWRP. Please download the recovery image to your computer. You can follow their instructions to flash recovery.

Step 2: After downloading the required files, unzip In there, you will see a ‘’ file. Copy to your phone. On a Mac, you can use Android File Transfer.

Step 3: Now, turn your device off and boot into recovery. You can do this on your OnePlus One by holding down both the volume down key and the power button.

Step 4: Once you are in the recovery interface, you need to perform a factory reset. This will wipe all your data and settings, make sure you have backed up all your files before doing this.

Step 5: After the wipe, go to install and find ‘’. Confirm the flash installation. This will flash OxygenOS onto your device. The process should not take long, but you shouldn’t interfere with the installation process.

Step 6: After the flash succeeds, you can reboot the device, which will take you to the new OxygenOS. The first boot takes a lot of time and you do not need to worry.

There is no official word about the CyanogenMod 12S, but we are pretty sure it is coming. We will most probably see the CyanogenMod 12S releasing with the OnePlus Two. OnePlus One is currently available on Amazon India for Rs. 18,999 for the 16GB variant and 21,999 for the 64GB variant.
