Xiaomi Mi4 with MIUI 6 Launched in India for Rs. 19999

After months of speculations and unconfirmed reports, Xiaomi has finally launched it’s flagship model Mi4 in the Indian market for a price of Rs. 19,999.

Mi 4 is a beautifully designed 5-inch device that is packed with powerful specs. It is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, comes equipped with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory and runs on a 3080 mAh battery. Mi 4 also includes a 13 -megapixel rear camera, and an impressive wide-angle (80°) front-facing camera of 8 megapixels, both with an unprecedented f1.8 aperture. Mi4 in India will only come with 16GB storage, white and non LTE.  It’s a shame that Xiaomi is launching the smaller and the non LTE version of it’s flagship device. Mi 4 will be on sale from February 10. As expected, the company will follow the flash sale model used while launching Redmi Note, Redmi 1S and Mi3 and pre- registrations for the device will start at 6pm on January 28 exclusively through its e-commerce partner, Flipkart.

Mi India also took the wraps off MIUI 6, a major update to its Android ROM. MIUI 6 is MIUI redesigned in its simplest form, with beautiful colour and motion graphics throughout, and all unnecessary distractions stripped away so you can focus on your content. It is visually stunning, and amazingly simple. MIUI is one of the world’s most popular Android-based platforms with over 85 million users worldwide. Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi Global, said: “I am truly excited to be bringing the Mi 4 to India, after listening to the feedback of so many fans. The Xiaomi team has put a lot of effort into designing a gorgeous device packed with powerful specs, and I trust that Mi 4 will be warmly welcomed by all our Indian fans. I believe India Mi fans will love MIUI 6, the most exciting update to our software platform to date.” Manu Jain, Operations Head, Mi India, said: “The Mi 4 re-affirms our commitment to bring more Mi products to India. We will continue to work on offering our Mi fans incredible value as we introduce even more great devices in the coming year, and the best user experience ever.”

Xiaomi Mi4 which sports premium hardware which can easily be compared to the smart-phones in the 30-40k range, does not really have a serious competitor in it’s range, barring OnePlus One which limits itself by selling through an invite only process. Mi4 will tap into sales of other Tier-1 companies in an already tough and competitive Indian marketplace. Xiaomi has already sold over a million units in 5 months since it has entered the India market, that’s quite an achievement for a chinese OEM and if it continues to show it’s commitment towards Indian consumers, they might establish themselves as a major player in the years to come.
