Microsoft Launches Lumia 535 in India for Rs. 9,199

Seven months after taking over the device and services business of Finnish company Nokia, Microsoft is finally ready to scrub off what’s left of the Nokia brand. Today Microsoft is expected to launch Microsoft Lumia 535. Microsoft has done away with the windows brand as well and is sticking to the Lumia brand from Nokia. Lumia 535 not only marks Microsoft’s entry into the handset business but also in the budget segment in the South-Asian region. Microsoft is set to launch the Lumia 535 in the silicon valley along with a simultaneous launch of the device in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai as well.

The 5 inch IPS LCD display comes with a 5 MP front and back camera and runs on quad core 1.4 GHz Cortex A7, Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM. At 220ppi, the display isn’t the sharpest and the camera is only capable of recording 480p videos. Most large screen phones sport a larger battery, Microsoft has chose a 1905 mAh battery for its first device. It has an internal memory of 8GB, it’s expandable up to 128GB. The device supports the

“Hey Cortana” command and will run on the windows 8.1 OS with latest Lumia Denim update.

With this device the Microsoft has shown a concerted effort to enter the highly competitive Indian market but it will have a tough time competitive with likes of Gionee and Xiaomi. Hopefully this is the first of many more better devices to come.
