Nexus 5 (or the new Nexus) images spotted in FCC filings

There were previous leaks about the Nexus 5 from @evleaks saying that the code name could be D820/D821 which are very similar to the one of the LG G2 (D800). Sometime later, @evleaks tweeted that D820/D821 can just be another variant of the G2.

@evleaks is known for its very accurate leaks. This time, @evleaks has a confusion and posted another tweet saying that they may be wrong (about D820 being a variant of G2). Today, we have finally spotted Nexus 5 in FCC filings that also matches up with the images from the Kitkat statue reveal video.

The filings also say “class 2 change” which means that it is most probably a change in the LG G2. All the previous Nexus devices are a change of some other device from the OEM. Nexus 4 was a change to LG Optimus G, Nexus S was a change of Galaxy S, Galaxy Nexus of the Galaxy S II. Specifications are expected to be pretty much same, but can still change. For reference, LG G2 packs a Snapdragon 800 with 2 GB of RAM.

Also, looking just at the images, the black body around the camera seems to be like an Optical Image Stabilizer. That may or may not be true, we don’t expect that gigantic OIS in the next Nexus. Tough, if that is OIS, photography enthusiast are gonna rejoice.

Some previous FCC filings (and leaks) also say that this device has a 4.96″ screen (pretty much 5″) and supports LTE bands for the major US carriers. We expect the device to have Android Kitkat out-of-the-box.
