Google announces "Play Game"

At the Google I/O 2013, Google has officially launched their new service, known as “Google Play Game” that shall now provide with a lot of new features that a developer can integrate into their Game.

The following are the features packed inside the Google Play Game:

  1. Achievements: This will definitely increase the engagement and plus will be good for the ones who love the boast about their gaming skills. A good step, indeed.
  2. Cloud Saves: The most useful feature for a developer. It’ll help the game developers to store their users’ progress in the game. Good news! Now you’ll never have to start for the Level 1 everytime.
  3. Leaderboards: This is definitely a good step by Google to get users’ attention towards the new Google+. You can share your scores on your G+ account and even use the Google+ Circles to compare the high-scores.
  4. Real-time multiplayer: Using Google+ Circles, a game can have up to 4 simultaneous friends or auto-matched players in a game session together with support for additional players coming soon.

The Google Play Game is available through an SDK for Android, and a native iOS SDK for iPhone and iPad games. Web and other platform developers will also find corresponding “Rest APIs”, with libraries for JavaScript, Java, Python, Go, Dart, PHP, and more.
