Research In Motion renames itself to just 'BlackBerry'

Well, Research In Motion (popularly known as RIM) is no more. It renames itself to ‘BlackBerry’, announced today at the BlackBerry 10 launch event by Thorsten Heins, Chief Executive Officer.

“It is one brand, it is one promise”; “Our customers use BlackBerry. From today on, we are BlackBerry everywhere in the world” said the CEO.

Though it’s surprising, but a good move. Customers identify ‘BlackBerry’ as a brand more than the name ‘Research In Motion’. So, an intelligent shift in order to simplify the presence of such a company. The company will even change its ticker symbol on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange from “RIMM” to “BBRY” on Monday.
