The Mobile World Congress currently going on in Barcelona has seen a lot of smartphone launches in the past two days. Samsung launched the new Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge while LG unveiled the G5, their flagships for the year 2016. Sony joins them with the launch on the new X Series of smartphones. There are currently 3 smartphones in the series called the Xperia X Performance, Xperia X and the Xperia XA.
Sony has launched the new series and there is a possibility that it may be replacing the Z series with the X series which was their current flagship series. The X series has a metal and glass built as opposed to the glass front and back on the Z series. The phones have a metallic back and a glass front which is curved at the edges. The Xperia X Performance is the high-end device in the series and sports a Snapdragon 820 chipset along with 3GB of RAM on board. The camera have feature Sony’s new Predictive Hybrid Auto-Focus that can predict the motion of the subject and ensure a blur free image. The metal back conceals a 2700mAh non removable battery and Sony promises 2 day of battery life on this smartphone. The device has 32GB of storage and is expandable via a MicroSD card slot.
The Sony Xperia X launched alongside is a mid range device but does not skip out on a lot. It also has a 5 inch 1080p curved display. The camera specs remain the same with a 23 megapixel camera at the back along with the new Predictive Hybrid AutoFocus and a 13 megapixel camera on the front. It sports a Snapdragon 650 Processor along with 3GB of RAM. The Xperia X will be available in two storage options in different markets, the 32GB single SIM and a 64GB dual SIM version. Both the versions do get a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The phone has a 2620mAh non removable battery.
The Sony Xperia XA seems to be the low end device. The phone has a 5 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has a MediaTek MT6755 processor and has 2GB of RAM. The camera is a 13 megapixel ExmorRS sensor at the back and 8 megapixel camera at the front. The device is available with 16GB of internal storage and microSD card support.
