So, the rumors have started flowing in for the Samsung’s new upcoming Flagship, S7. After finally paying heed to customer outcries, Samsung absolutely killed it with its metallic-glass design for the S6. The camera was spectacular and specifications were top notch as well. But in spite of hitting a homerun with every aspect of the phone, Samsung could not quite reach the sales target it had set for itself. Owing to all that benchmark that the S6 has set, the S7 has some pretty big shoes to fill. But if the rumors are to be believed, Samsung is really preparing to up the game in 2016.
We have narrowed it down to the most exciting rumors surrounding Samsung Galaxy S7.
1. Iris Scanner
Samsung has been dropping a lot of hints of this feature. This feature should make it to the phone considering Iris Scanner seems to be the new talk of the town after the fingerprint scanner. After introduction of the fingerprint scanner to the mainstream by Apple, there hasn’t been much evolution in terms security features. But the year 2016 seems to be the step into the future with many rumors gaining traction about the introduction of Iris Scanner by multiple companies in their flagships. And according to the reports, Samsung would have the first mover advantage of being the first Android phone to feature it.
S7 is expected to feature similar design layout as the S6. But, is said to feature a turtle glass back instead of gorilla glass back, which is Samsung’s home developed glass and is supposedly, stronger the gorilla glass. Samsung also might introduce a premium version of the S7 featuring an Ultra HD display which can also be seen on Sony Xperia Z5 premium.
Samsung also seems to follow Apple like strategy by introducing S7 plus variants across the S7 and S7 edge. This could appeal to a lot of people as it would cater to both giant screen lovers, as well as the people who like an ergonomic design. On the other hand, it also may confuse the buyers, for which, Samsung is all ready very well known for.
Just like Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung would introduce two chipsets with the phone, namely Snapdragon 820 and the its own Exynos 8890, according to different geographic(s). Keeping in mind the current 4GB RAM standards of the current S6 series, the S7 should also have at least this much of Ram.
5. Pressure Sensitive Display
Samsung has never taken a back seat in introducing new features, no matter how useless they are. But hey, an innovation is still an innovation. So how can it stay behind Apple, which introduced the first ever pressure sensitive display for mobile devices known as 3D touch. How efficiently and effectively Samsung utilizes this feature, remains to be seen.
6. microSD Card Slot
microSD Card Slot was one feature whose absence was deeply felt in the S6 series. And if reports are to be believed, it’s returning back with the Galaxy S7. This move makes a lot of sense owing to the gigantic detailing in the photos and the videos taken by the smartphones nowadays which takes up a lot of space in the phones.
Galaxy S7 is rumored to sport a 20 megapixel camera which is an update to its current 16 megapixel sensor on the S6, which all ready is one of the leading cameras for mobile photography on the planet. More importantly, Samsung recently filed a trademark application for a mobile image sensor called as “Britecell”.
If all these things do make it to the Galaxy S7 and if Samsung is able to , this year could prove to be Samsung’s year
