Meizu, the China based Smartphone giant has been attempting to tap into the booming potential of the Indian mid-to-high range market over the past few months. The company often lauded for its superior design quality and boasting of one of the better after sales service launched its new flagship MX5, in India.
This phone is not at all far behind for the avid photographer, with a 20.7-mega-pixel rear camera with Sony IMX220 Exmor RS BSI sensor, laser autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. The rear camera can record videos at 4K resolution. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture also on board. The MX5 comes with Android 5.0 based FlymeOS 4.5 and supports Dual SIM, and also supports 4G. It has a vast array of connectivity options, including 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Glonass, and micro-USB.
In a market which each smartphone maker is trying to achieve a foothold of supremacy, the dynamics of this ever-changing market is being reflected in the high quality standards which each OEM is stressing on and is trying to appease their old customers and the first time smartphone buyer alike with a vast array of features while also aiming to keep it simple, as the critical management mantra goes.
All in all, it sounds like a great phone, and as recently announced by Meizu they have established 40 service centres in 20 Indian cities and are also implementing a pick-up delivery service for repairs and such, so it seems to be covered on that base as well. With top notch hardware and software, it is indeed a compelling buy at Rs. 19,999 for the 16 GB variant.
