The Japanese smartphone manufacturer, Sony added another phone to its Xperia lineup called the Sony Xperia M4 early Aqua this year during the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The phone debuted in India the other day when it was launched in New Delhi at a price of Rs. 24,990. The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is Sony’s first octa-core smartphone running on a 64-bit architecture and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. The M4 Aqua is integrated with 4G LTE connectivity and upto two-days of battery backup.
Xperia M4 Aqua’s impressive 13MP rear camera is powered by Sony’s Exmor RS mobile sensor with a large f2.0 aperture and ISO 3200 sensitivity. Not compromising with the front camera, stands Sony’s 5MP selfie camera with a super wide-angle lens covering upto 88 degrees field of view. The Android Lollipop powered device comes with a 2400 mAh battery pack which is claimed to eliminate the need for regular charging with its Stamina and Ultra Stamina modes. With these impressive specifications, we will be discussing what makes this phone class apart from its counterparts.
1. Waterproof and Dust Resistant
The waterproof design of the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua protects it against water splashes and submersion. In fact, it comes with IP65/68 certification, which is the highest possible Ingress Protection rating in the smartphones category. IP65 makes it the best possible dust resistor and with the IP68 rating, it becomes waterproof with an open microUSB* port upto 5 feet under water and not more than 30 minutes.
* The waterproof design requires all the other ports to be intact while under water to prevent the flow of water inside the device. The flap is absent on the charging port of the device, which makes charging a less cumbersome task for the user.
With the 13MP rear camera and Sony’s Exmor RS mobile sensing technology, Sony Xperia M4 Aqua performs significantly good in terms of reproducing colours and capturing light. In addition to this, the intelligent superior auto mode simplifies the job by automatically sensing up to 52 different scenarios. The demo shown to us flaunted Xperia M4 Aqua’s performance in capturing low-light pictures, which were commendable. Not compromising with the front camera, stands Sony’s 5MP selfie camera with a super wide-angle lens covering upto 88 degrees field of view.
3. Battery Backup
You’ll find out that there’s nothing special in the battery which comes bundled with the Xperia M4 Aqua, it is the claims that Sony made while announcing the device. With the 2400mAh battery, Sony claims that the phone can give users upto 13 hours and 17 minutes of talktime and around 779 hours of standby time.
