Gadgets New Releases News

Lava has introduced a new phone to its Lava Iris series, dubbed the Lava Iris X8. After producing some great smartphones every year, this time the Indian Smartphone giant, Lava, is trying to compete with some of the newly released phones, the Xiaomi Redmi Note and Micromax YU Yureka. The phone is priced at Rs. 8999 and is available on major retail stores and Flipkart.com.

Lava Iris X8 is a dual-SIM smartphone with GSM+GSM capablities and runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat and will be upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core (unspecified chipset) processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and Mali 450 MP GPU. The phone features a 5.0 inch HD(720×1280 pixels) display protected by Asahi Dragontrail Glass, same as the Xiaomi Redmi 1s.  The Lava Iris X8 comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and BSI 3 sensor, while there is a secondary 3-megapixel front-facing camera also on-board. The rear camera supports full-HD video recording and comes with Panorama, HDR mode, face detection, smile shot and voice capture options. The smartphone packs a 2500mAh battery with no word on talk time and standby time. It measures 143.4×70.9×8.6mm, weighs 160 grams, and is listed in Black and White colour. It packs sensors such as accelerometer, ambient light sensor, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. On the connectivity front, the Lava Iris X8 offers 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth options.

The phone has many great features for iys price like Lollipop compatibility, 2500 mAh Battery, Octa-core processor and 2 GB RAM but the plastic bulit which appears to be premium on close look is not very soothing. The company has also tied-up with Airtel to provide free 500 MB of 3G and 2G data. A flipcover will also be bundled up with the Lava Iris X8.
