Barely 20 days into 2015, Xiaomi has already launched a plethora of devices and accessories including Redmi 2, Mi Note and Mi Note Pro alongside the latest Mi Headphones and a smaller Mi Mini Box. Now they are back with another event planned for 20-01-2015. The invites and teasers seems like launch of a gaming console could be imminent. The latest teasers posted on Xiaomi’s Wiebo account has only added fuel to fire. It depict three rectangular boxes in a black black and the logo of a console on top left. The teaser image includes a tag line bigger is better.
Launch of a gaming console makes sense considering the fact that last year the Chinese government lifted a 14 year old ban on sale of gaming consoles.Recently Xiaomi announced its deal with Chinese software development company Kingsoft,buying 2.98 % of its share for $68 million. Kingsoft has had a firm fothold in the PC gaming industry and includes services like cloud storage,word processor and anti virus software too. Unlike most handset manufacturing mobile companies, Xiaomi hasn’t limited itself to just mobile phones and has an array of products like soft toys, fitness bands, earphones and many more in its repertoire. On the sidelines of the launch of Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, the company confirmed the launch of much awaited flagship device Mi 4 by the end of the month. Hugo Barra announced an event in Delhi on 28th January confirming reports of the launch.
