We all are familiar that Windows 8.1 update by Microsoft is not bugs-free. So, we all might be coming across a lot of issues while working on the Windows 8.1 Operating System. One such issue which many people, including me came across is the brightness control issue. This has happened with many manufacturers including HP, Dell, Samsung, Lenovo, Vaio etc. So in case you are also among the people who are unable to change the brightness on your Windows 8.1, here’s the solution to your problem.
Step 1: Open Device Manager. To open it, press ‘WinKey + R’ combination and enter ‘devmgmt.msc’ and hit enter.
Step 2: Navigate to find ‘Display Drives’ and click on the expand arrow, to view the display drivers installed. Right click on the ‘Intel HD (R) Graphics’ installed and click ‘Disable’. There might be some problem in the display after that, but don’t worry.
Step 3: Restart your computer. (A restart is essential so that all the changes are made properly, without any incomplete updates. You might skip this step, but it is strongly recommended that you should perform a restart.)
Step 4: Repeat step 1 and 2. But this time click ‘Enable’ in the ‘Intel HD (R) Graphics’ menu.
After performing the five steps listed above, you will be able to change the brightness level by using the dedicated keys on your keyboard.
