The recent change in the demand, from personal computers to mobile has affected the internet giants, both in a positive and a negative way. Facebook, which initially started as a website, later launched a mobile application with its increasing demand. Recently, Facebook acquired WhatsApp, the popular Instant Messaging Startup.
“WhatsApp is the only app we’ve ever seen with higher engagement than Facebook itself,” said the Facebook Founder, Mark Zuckerburg in February during the deal between WhatsApp and Facebook.
And recently, Facebook Founder, Mark Zuckerberg was in talk with the Snapchat creators, Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy, to acquire the popular image and video sharing application in $3 Billion. But the deal was declined by the Snapchat creators, but Mark’s zeal of owning something similar to that continued. Hence, we have this application called ‘Slingshot’ being developed by Facebook in order to make its place in ‘instant image and video sharing’ market.
Snapchat, currently, offers features like sharing images and video ‘temporarily‘ (available only for a few seconds) and instantly with friends. But when Facebook is working on a similar platform, we expect them to add more exciting features. The most obvious of all features that we can expect them to add is, Facebook Sync, so that we can skip searching for our friends, rather than we can simply log in with our Facebook Account and all out information and data will automatically get synced.
Sources have indicated that Facebook is on the verge of completion of this application and we might get to use ‘Slingshot’ as soon as the end of this month. Excited? Do let us know how you feel about this application and what features will you be looking forward to see in this application through the comments!
