Cortana – Microsoft’s Voice Assistant for Windows Phone 8.1

Cortana is the Microsoft’s voice assistant for Windows Phone and would debut as the part of Windows Phone 8.1. It is supposedly based on Microsoft’s 26th Century Artificial Intelligence character in the video game series – Halo. It is clear that this is Microsoft’s response to the Google’s Google Now and Apple’s Siri. Microsoft has tend to pickup the best features from the two and blended it with its own unique taste.


Cortana is smart and intelligent. By continuously helping you out, she will keep learning about your habits and will in turn help you organize your daily activites, along with voice web search. It shall also be the primary way to search for information on your Windows Phone 8.1, whereas will let you schedule alarms, meetings and reminders.


Cortana closely resembles a real female assistant and has been announced at such a time when Microsoft’s only aim is to dominate the Mobile Operating Systems. As per the reports, Cortana was under development for two years and since it has been announced for Windows Phone 8.1, it is expected to be much better than currently running Voice Assistants.
