Though the Casio Smart-Gshocks had hit the US stores in January only, the Indian markets could get a taste of these only from the month of May onwards. Casio launched the two variants of Smart-G Shocks namely the G-Shock 6900 AB and the G-Shock 5600 AB in the month of May in India.
After using the G-Shock 6900 AB for a month, I am ready to tell you guys the Pros and Cons of the Watch. So here’s my review of Casio G-Shock 6900 AB :-
What’s In The Box
- A beautiful container containing, The Casio G-Shock 6900 AB
- A manual
- A list of the Countries and geographic areas where the Watch confronts to Radio Laws or Has Been Approved
- The International Warranty Card
Design – The Casio G-Shock 6900 AB is no different from the other G-Shocks in terms of design. Like all the other G-shocks, it also comes in variety of colours. And personally when I went to buy this watch, the glossy black colour caught my eye. The watch has five buttons, four on the edges and one in the bottom. The button button which also has big G on it functions as the light button. The watch is also quite tough owing to the series as the G-shock series is known for its toughness.
Features – Well the watch’s primary feature is obviously the bluetooth function. It connects to your iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S which also means that the watch is useful only to the iPhone owners. The Watch notifies you whenever someone calls, when you have a Facebook notification or an E-mail by a variety of ways. It can produce a beep sound or vibration or both at the same time along with a cute animation on the screen in order to notify you.
The second feature, known as Link Loss Alert, which I find life saving is the ability of the watch to notify you when you are moving away from your Watch. But the limitation of this feature is that the Watch only vibrates 2-3 times and that too without any sound.
Another cool feature that this Watch offers is the ability to locate your iPhone by just pressing a button on the watch. No matter which mode your iPhone is on, it will start ringing.
This Watch also packs in some other amazing features such as it has built in tilt sensors which allows the Watch to connect automatically when you wear it. The other feature known as the Auto Time Adjustment allows you to sync the time between your iPhone and the Watch.
The Watch offers almost a 2-year battery life on a single button type battery which is a huge advantage over the other Watches in this category as no other Watch offers that amount of battery life.
The Watch also possesses the usual G-Shock features such as Five alarms, a world clock, water resistance upto 200 metres, a stopwatch, a timer and a beautiful white illuminating light . But the Full Auto EL feature which is not only cool but is also seen in almost all G-Shocks is seen to be lacking in this “Smart” Watch.
Things You Should Know Before Buying This Watch – The Watch comes with a 2-year international warranty.
In order to connect the watch, you have to download the G-Shock + app from the Apple App Store. One of the most amazing things about this app is that it gets updated almost every month. Which means you get new blueooth features on your Watch everytime the App updates.
The watch does not have the auto EL function. For those of you who are unaware of this feature- this feature automatically illuminates the Watch’s display when the watch is held at a certain angle which means you do not have to press the Light button in order to see the display in dark places.
- Stylish Design
- Great Battery Life
- Reasonable Price
- Sometimes the Watch starts vibrating even when my iPhone is kept just next to me.
- Only supports iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S.
- Do you really need it?
Verdict – If you are a G-Shock fan and are ready to spend Rs. 10,000 and of course own an iPhone, this is THE Watch for you. Other than some connectivity issues, it’s a great watch. It’s the only “bluetooth” Watch in market which offers such a great battery life. And the extraordinary toughness is some of the other perks of buying this watch.
